Higher Education podcast recommendation from the eLinC Observatory

Podcasting is a growing trend. They help us save time by listening to them while doing other tasks and provide a wealth of information through different formats, such as interviews or content review, helping to generate opinion on different topics. Today we will review the landscape of podcasts in education.

From the eLinC Observatory of Educational Trends and Innovation we wanted to highlight some podcasts related to higher education, education policy, and innovation within educational technology and the teaching and learning process.

The World of Higher Education

Produced by Tiffany MacLennan and Samantha Puffek and presented by Alex Usher of Higher Education Strategy Associates, the podcast is dedicated to exploring the evolution of higher education from a global perspective, focusing on different aspects of teaching on a global scale. Colombia, Nigeria, Australia…every week they conduct interviews with guests from different countries on educational developments in their regions.

THE Campus Podcast

Conducted by Sarah Custer, the podcast of Times Higher Education reviews the latest developments in universities and higher education. The programme covers news, analyses the state of education and comments on education-related technologies and policies. It also offers advice and opinions from specialists in the world of education.

Presented by Laura Rumbley, the podcast by EAIE offers listeners testimonials, perspectives, ideas and insights into the world of international education. The host talks to guests about the most important topics for everyday work in the internationalisation of higher education.

A podcast by Universities UK, an advocacy organization for UK universities. Conducted by Harry Anderson and recently created, it brings together unusual topics and invites specialists from the educational world to talk about the main issues related to universities, as well as the problems that affect students.

Hosted by Todd Zipper of Wiley University Services, the aim of the programme is to provide listeners with the latest news on teaching from leading experts in higher education, and to delve into the innovations and trends that are driving the future of learning.

Teaching in Higher Education Podcast

Presented by Bonnie Stachowiak, the podcast airs weekly. Focused on topics such as excellence in teaching, instructional design, open education, diversity and inclusion, productivity, creativity in teaching, educational technology and blended learning, it offers a multi-faceted view of current educational issues from a variety of profiles in the sector.

Authors, leaders and influencers in the education community talk in depth about the complexities, challenges and also the strengths of technology in higher education. The programme is hosted by John O’Brien, President and CEO of EDUCAUSE, who, throughout his career in higher education, has served as an academic, technology and institutional leader.

Two UOC featured podcasts

Inevitably, we highlight here two of the UOC’s podcasts because of their relationship with trends in education and technological innovation.

Días singulares en universidades singulares

At a time of great change like the current one, the eLearning Innovation Center of the UOC analyses today’s higher education with a forward-looking vision, and also reviews the processes of transformation, improvement and innovation towards which it is inevitably heading, in a podcast coordinated by Guillem Garcia, Mildred Guinart and Silvia Sivera. Walking in the company of experts from university institutions through several spaces, situations and even singular days, the various hosts of the podcast will address the great challenges that lie ahead.

A podcast conceived and produced by the Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications of the UOC on how people deal with technology. Hosted by by César Córcoles, Susanna Tesconi and Dani Riera, the programme deals with subjects such as education, philosophy, ethics, economics and health, among others, and aims to be an inclusive space for experts (and not-so-experts) in technology.
