How can we avoid new outbreaks of COVID-19?

23/07/2020

Summer has arrived, but so too has worrying news about new outbreaks of COVID-19. Some places, whether because they’ve failed to take all the necessary measures or because it’s impossible to eliminate all risk, have seen rises in cases that have set the alarm bells ringing.

To avoid spreading the virus, we need to break the chain of infection as quickly as possible. To do so, we all have to work together.

Detect and isolate cases quickly

Watch out for possible symptoms (fever, cough, trouble breathing, general unwellness, diarrhoea and vomiting).

  • If you’d don’t feel well, call your primary healthcare centre or 061 Salut Respon straight away.
  • Self-isolate.
  • Identify the people you’ve been in contact with so that they can self-isolate.

Identify close contacts and self-isolate

If you’ve been in close contact with a case, you’ll be notified by SMS, email or phone.

  • You need to self-isolate for 14 days as a preventative measure.
  • Monitor and control your symptoms using the STOP COVID19 CAT app (for Android or iOS).
  • If you’d don’t feel well, call your primary healthcare centre or 061 Salut Respon.

Preventative measures

Now more than ever, take care to avoid getting infected. The coronavirus is still active and spreading. Take all preventative measures:
