Artificial Intelligence for child behavior analysis: driving research with advanced technology in education and human developmental psychology

The InfàncIA project is developing a pilot test to explore the possibilities and constraints in the use of AI to analyze the behavior of children under six years of age.
The study applies non-invasive data collection techniques and multimodal microanalysis to better understand how children interact with educational digital content.

Building on previous research, such as the R+D App2five project, which analyzed the emotional expression and attention of 4–5-year-olds while using educational Apps, the InfàncIA project seeks to adapt and refine processes and tools for the automatic analysis of emotional behavior in childhood.

This pilot test, supported by cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence, focuses on obtaining, analyzing and visualizing data needed to understand students’ responses during the learning process with educational digital content. The results of this study are expected to not only demonstrate the feasibility of AI in educational research, but also suggests possible applications in other educational levels and virtual environments, thus increasing flexibility and agility in teaching.
