Josep Martí Pérez

 

Biography:

Josep Martí (jmarti@imf.csic.es) received his doctorate in 1985 at the Philipps-Universität in Marburg (Germany) after having studied cultural anthropology in Barcelona and Göttingen. Since 1989, he has worked as a researcher at the Institució Milà i Fontanals of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Barcelona) where he is conducting research projects of his specialty. Throughout his professional career, the main research topics have focused on the areas of the new social significance of intangible cultural heritage, collective identities and culture (specifically ethnicity and multiculturalism), anthropology of music, anthropology of the body and, more recently, posthumanism. As an anthropologist he has done field work in different European countries, Japan and Equatorial Guinea.

The results of these works have been released through various books, numerous articles published in specialized magazines and exhibitions. As a guest lecturer, he regularly teaches courses of his specialty in several universities of the country, especially in the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and in the University of Barcelona.
