Vitamin D while in lockdown

16/04/2020

Anyone who leads a healthy lifestyle should have enough vitamin D stored up to last them through the lockdown period.

Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to top up:

  • Try to get 10-15 minutes’ of sun a day. You needn’t strip off, it’s enough just to get some sun on your face and arms.
  • Follow a balanced diet. The best sources of vitamin D include oily fish (sardines, tuna, anchovies, mackerel or salmon), egg yolk and mushrooms.
  • The vitamin D is found in the fatty part of food. With milk, it’s best to choose whole or semi-skimmed.
  • There is no evidence suggesting that vitamin D helps prevent or cure COVID-19. Don’t take supplements if you don’t have a deficiency.

And remember, with each day that passes, we’re a day closer; together we’ll get through this!
