Digital Translations and the Production of Knowledge about China: Ethnography and Action Research

Seminar | Sustainable Crisis Translation in Hong Kong, by Clara Chuan Yu (HKBU)

DT memeber and Hong Kong Baptist University researcher Clara Yu Chuan shared online with other DT members the details of her ongoing research project “Investigating the Role of Communities and NGOs in Supporting Sustainable Crisis Translation in Hong Kong” that she is developping under the ECS scheme of Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council.

This impressive project aims at analizing the ways in which translation is practiced and used by ethnic minority residents in Hong Kong, focusing on the specific case of South Asian comminities. A pilot research was already completed last year with relevant results that will be further explored. The project combines points to relevant academic contributions in areas such as community translation while it also aims at improving the integration and well-being of communities involved.
