Boletín DT: A newsletter about Chinese literature in translation in collaboration with China Traducida
Since March 2022, DigiTrans has partnered with China Traducida to publish a monthly newsletter that keeps our readers updated about events, publications and new resources about Chinese literature in translation.

Chinese literature courses in collaboration with Casa Asia
In collaboration with Casa Asia, DigiTrans has organized several courses and book clubs on Chinese literature. These activities are conducted online and open to the general public, and hosted by members of the DigiTrans project.
So far, we have offered the following courses:
- The monthly online book club series “Women Voices“, in collaboration with Casa Asia and the Barcelona Confucius Institute Foundation. Running from September 2023 to January 2024, it included five sessions hosted by DT members Antonio Paoliello and Teresa I. Tejeda Martín. All sessions revolved around works by contemporary Chinese women writers: Love in a Fallen City, by Eileen Chang; Private Life, by Chen Ran; Posthumous Letters from Montmartre, by Qiu Miaojin; The Head, by Dorothy Tse; and Red Leaves, by Can Xue.
- The course “A panorama of Chinese and Sinophone literature in the 20th century“, that run from May to June 2023, including four sessions on “Late-Qing literature” (with Maialen Marin-Lacarta, UOC), “Sinophone literature” (with Antonio Paoliello, UAB), “Scar literature” (with Manuel Pavón-Belizón, UAB/UPF) and “Avant-garde literature in the 1980s” (with Teresa I. Tejeda Martín, USAL).
- The monthly online book club series “Chinese Fiction“, in collaboration with Casa Asia and the Barcelona Confucius Institute Foundation. From October 2022 to January 2023, this series included four sessions hosted by DT member and translator Belén Cuadra Mora. Each session was dedicated to a work of Chinese fiction, including classical fiction: Liaozhai Stories, by Pu Songling; Days, Months, Years, by Yan Lianke; Camel Xiangzi, by Lao She; and The Butcher’s Wife, by Li Ang.
Chinese literature book clubs in collaboration with Instituto Confucio de Madrid
DigiTrans members have been invited to the Instituto Confucio de Madrid’s monthly book club, “Léete China”.
On December 18, 2023, Maialen Marin-Lacarta conducted a session on the classic twentieth-century novel La ciudad fronteriza (Border Town) by Shen Congwen, translated into Spanish by Marin-Lacarta.
On October 9, 2023, the chosen work was Submarino en la noche (Night Submarine), by Chen Chuncheng. The conductor of the session was Teresa I. Tejeda Martín, translator of this work into Spanish with Tyra Díez.
On May 22, 2023, the session commented on Contar nuevo de historias viejas (Old Tales Retold), by Lu Xun, translated into Spanish by Laureano Ramírez. The session was conducted by DT member Manuel Pavón-Belizón.
