Call for Papers Open for RE:22 (Reykjavik, June 13-16, 2022)

25 November, 2021

The RE:22 Nordic Ethnology and Folklore Conference will be held in Reykjavik next summer (June 13-16, 2022) with the theme “Re”. We invite all of you to participate with us in the event and to send your abstract proposals to the Panel Inte01 “Revivals, remembrances, reactions: gender and politics in the European context” coordinated by Begonya Enguix (UOC) and Alexandre Pichel-Vázquez (UOC).

Attending to the rise of the far-right and its construction of “gender ideology” as the enemy to be fought and a “symbolic glue”, the panel will explore the assemblage between gender and politics (antifeminism, feminism, masculinism) in the current European context and its discursive, material and affective strategies.

We welcome contributions related (but not limited) to:

  • The connections of gender, affects and the polarization of politics
  • Gender related activisms and New Social Movements
  • The (anti)feminist strategies in politics (right and left)
  • The revival of masculinist politics in relation to nationalism and politics.

You can check the full panel abstract and propose a paper at https://nomadit.co.uk/conference/re22/p/10987

!!: A paper proposal must consist of a short abstract of 300 characters (max.) and a long abstract of 250 words (max.). The Call for Papers will close on January 7, 2022. You can check and read the instructions on how to propose a paper at https://www.ethnofolk.org/cfp
