Researchers Amalia CreusInés Martins, and Adriana Ornellas, from the NODES research group (UOC), participated in the international conference EDULEARN2025, held in Palma de Mallorca from June 30 to July 2, 2025. During the event, they presented two papers focused on the educational inclusion of young people of migrant origin, contributing to the international academic debate on educational equity and social justice.

The first paper, “Strangers in the Schoolyard: Media Discourses on the Educational Inclusion of Young Migrants in Spain”, presents results from the research project Migrant Youths’ Educational and Urban Trajectories in Times of Pandemic: Contributions to Reduce Inequity and Segregation (MyWay), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The study examines how media narratives shape perceptions of migrant students and influence their processes of school inclusion.

The second paper, “Early School Leaving Among Young People of Migrant Origin: A Case Study in a Second-Chance School in Barcelona”, is part of the project Crossing Borders to Connect Routes. Researching with Educational Communities to Promote Equity and Fight Racism Towards Immigrants in a Post-Pandemic World, funded by the Spencer Foundation. This case study focuses on a second-chance school in Barcelona, aiming to understand the factors behind early school leaving and explore pedagogical strategies that promote equity.

EDULEARN (International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies) is a leading international forum on educational innovation and learning technologies, bringing together researchers and practitioners from over 80 countries. The participation of the NODES group in this edition highlights its ongoing commitment to generating critical, applied knowledge on current educational challenges.
