Internal feedback strategies for the deployment of the new competence curricula: towards the self-regulation of student learning

Home

Welcome to the EFICCA3 blog,

In this blog we share the most relevant information about the project Estratègies de feedback intern pel desplegament dels nous currículums competencials: cap a l’autoregulació de l’aprenentatge de l’alumnat (EFICCA3) (Internal feedback strategies for the deployment of the new competence curricula: towards the self-regulation of student learning (EFICCA3)). You can explore the key concepts, the objectives and phases of the project and get to know the research team. We also offer you a section of resources that we hope will be of interest, above all, for educational centers and we will keep you informed of the new resources we produce, events we hold and other news of interest.

Summary of EFICCA3

With the approval of the DECREE 175/2022 of 27 September 2022 on the organization of basic education (DECRET 175/2022 de 27 de setembre de 2022 d’ordenació dels ensenyaments de l’educació bàsica), Catalonia begins to understand the new curricula as an instrument to respond to the new challenges of society. The first vector of competence learning shows a commitment to the competence profile of students, which includes the competence to learn to learn and, specifically, to self-regulate learning.

Educational research demonstrates how the links between self-regulated learning and formative assessment have been strengthened and evidence the evolution towards a more active role of students with a new understanding of feedback as a process that they carry out to give meaning to information received from different sources and thus improve their learning. But what do our students do to internalize the “internal” feedback? What patterns lead to this feedback influencing the self-regulation of their learning?

The process of internalizing the information received so that students can regulate their own learning remains a question mark. This is why the following project proposes to search for and understand internalized feedback practices to promote student self-regulation, with the aim of being able to design educational proposals that encourage this type of experience.

Through a systematic review of the literature on the subject, the project proposes the development of an instrument that collects the key factors of internalized feedback strategies for self-regulation, for a subsequent local and international search for success stories that allow a thorough analysis for their transfer.
