L’ús cívic de les plataformes digitals

El 7th International Workshop on the Sharing Economy tindrà lloc del 24 al 26 de febrer de 2021, organitzat pels Estudis d’Economia i Empresa de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya UOC.
Donat l’enorme impacte que la pandèmia de la COVID-19 està tenint en l’economia col·laborativa/de plataformes arreu del món, diversos participants del workshop van ser convidats a participar en una sèrie de vídeos titulada Economia col·laborativa de la UOC: perspectives post-COVID -19.
Aquesta sèrie de vídeos presenta a vuit ponents del 7th IWSE, compartint les seves pròpies perspectives i projeccions sobre com la pandèmia de la COVID-19 pot afectar les diferents dimensions de l’economia col·laborativa a curt, mitjà i llarg termini, en el context específic de la seva pròpia investigació particular sobre l’economia col·laborativa/de plataformes.
En aquest capítol de la sèrie audiovisual «Sharing Economy UOC, Post-COVID19 Perspectives», la Doctora en Sociologia i Ciències Polítiques Rosa Borge, professora dels Estudis de Dret i Ciència Política de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) i membre del grup d’investigació DeliberaNet, analitza l’impacte de la COVID-19 a l’ús cívic de les plataformes digitals i les xarxes socials governamentals.
Segons Borge, “la participació i el debat a través de les plataformes digitals i les xarxes socials han augmentat dràsticament durant la pandèmia i el confinament”. A més, afirma l’experta, “el nombre d’usuaris de Twitter s’ha incrementat un 23% a Espanya”
Com explica l’experta, han sorgit iniciatives des de plataformes participatives com Decidim Barcelona o Decide Madrid per coordinar organitzacions d’ajuda per a les persones vulnerables i és probable que “l’ús creixent de les plataformes digitals amb objectius comunitaris i socials continuï a mitjà i llarg termini”.
Pel que fa a la recerca en el futur en aquest àmbit, Rosa Borge opina que serà interessant estudiar l’impacte de la pandèmia en la millora de l’adquisició de competències digitals i de la inclusió social a col·lectius vulnerables.

The 7th International Workshop on the Sharing Economy will take place on 24th-26th February 2021, hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Open University of Catalonia UOC.
Given the enormous impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the sharing/platform economy worldwide, several participants of the workshop were invited to take part in a video series entitled ‘UOC Sharing Economy – post-Covid19 perspectives’.
This specially-commissioned video series features eight presenters from the 7th IWSE programme, each sharing their own perspectives and projections on how the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to affect different dimensions of the sharing economy in the short, medium and long term, in the specific context of their own particular research on the sharing /platform economy.
In this episode from the “Sharing Economy UOC, Post-COVID19 Perspectives” series of videos, Rosa Borge, doctor in Sociology and Political Sciences, member of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and member of the DeliberaNet research group, looks at the impact that COVID-19 has had on citizens’ use of governmental social media and digital platforms.
According to Borge, “participation and debate on digital platforms and social media has risen immensely during the pandemic and lockdowns.” What’s more, “the number of Twitter users in Spain has increased 23%”.
She talks about how initiatives have started on participatory platforms like Decidim Barcelona or Decide Madrid to coordinate organizations helping people at risk. She thinks that it is likely that “increasing use of digital platforms with social and communal objectives will continue in the medium and long term”.
With regard to future research in the field, Borge thinks that interesting areas for study include the impact the pandemic has had on the improvement of people’s digital skills or social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
