DEPART
The project “DEPART – The right to participate in the cultural life of the city: inequalities and equity policies” has the main objective of investigating the inequalities in access to and participation in culture in Barcelona, in order to promote greater equity in this area.
Led by Nicolás Barbieri, a professor in the Arts and Humanities Studies at UOC, the project seeks to understand which factors hinder certain sectors of the population from fully enjoying their right to culture.

Funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the project includes an interdisciplinary team of researchers from various Catalan universities, such as UOC, UAB, UB, and UPF, as well as from international institutions, including the University of Montpellier, Paris, Manchester, Buenos Aires, and Diego Portales. Additionally, professionals from public administration, such as members of the Cultural Data Observatory of the Barcelona City Council, also actively participate.
The project analyzes the barriers that prevent equitable participation in cultural life and seeks to develop knowledge that contributes to designing more inclusive public policies, thus ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities for access to culture.
