Marie-Skłodowska Curie Grant Agreement No. 101065157

Project leader

Lucía Campanella, responsible for the ARGOT project.

I am a Uruguayan researcher, educated in Uruguay, Italy and France. I first studied to be a teacher and worked for a few years as a literature teacher; I also pursued a research career in literature at the University of the Republic, in Uruguay. Later I had the opportunity, thanks to an Erasmus Mundus (EU) scholarship, to do a PhD in General and Comparative Literature in Italy (Università degli Studi di Bergamo) and France (Université de Perpignan Via Domitia). I then returned to my country where I worked as a teaching and research assistant in the fields of French language and literature and academic literacy.

In 2022, I obtained a postdoctoral contract in the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (EU) to develop the Anarchist Translation Flows and World Literature Project (ARGOT) with the GlobaLS group, led by Diana Roig Sanz, at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain). While developing this project in Spain, I continue to participate in the R&D project 150 Years of Literary Translation in Printing and Publishing Houses in Uruguay, which we are carrying out with colleagues from the Historia de la Traducción en Uruguay group (Universidad de la República).

In addition to having taught literature to different audiences for several years in institutional contexts (public high schools, international baccalaureate, universities, teacher training institutes), I am interested in contributing to the dissemination of reading and reflection on literature to a wider public. I have run reading clubs, contributed a fortnightly column on literary fiction to a radio programme, written reviews for specialist journals and occasionally for the general press. I am also interested in promoting and making available the work of women writers and translators on the web; in this sense, I have collaborated with the Anáforas repository and coordinated a team of students working on the digitisation of archives.
