Carles Prado-Fonts

BA in Translation and Interpreting (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), PhD in Translation Theory and Intercultural Studies (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and PhD in Asian Languages and Cultures (University of California, Los Angeles). He has also studied at the Beijing Language and Culture University, the University of Westminster (London) and the University of California, Los Angeles.

He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Arts and Humanities at UOC, and a regular visiting lecturer at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain). He has worked on topics such as the role of translators in the first cultural contacts between the West and modern Chinese literature (19th-20th centuries) or the tensions between Chinese and Sinophone literature and the global literary system.

His last book is Secondhand China: Spain, the East, and the Politics of Translation. Northwestern University Press, 2022.
